Deer ate all my flowers- I just had one plant. It is rabits early in the season and deer after. At some point I stopped spraying the repellent. They can have it.

Coneflowers! My favorite. If you and Meade ever decide you'd like a break from Wisconsin I have a lovely little guest house at my horse farm...and lots of gardens that could use his eye.

Coupe, When did that Trump fellow use the Puccini aria?

You didn't take that photo today, did you Professor Ann?

We are visiting nephew and his wife in Madison WI - today we made it to the Saturday market, top of the Capital building and the Wright designed Monoma (sp?) center before we melted into the sidewalk with the 90% humidity. Began our driving tour of more Wright buildings and then the thunderstorms hit and streets began to flood. Really wanted to go to Memorial Union plaza.

Tomorrow we go to Taleisin (More Flank Lloyd).

Any Madisonites have a dinner recommendation? The youngsters are residents at UW Madison hospital and don't get out much.

Three of the eight victims in Munich were Turkish citizens.

So? Compared to the Erdogan purges that's a rounding error. Anyway the shooter, or the one who was cornered, was evidently Iranian. No love lost there even if it was intentional. But it's not like this guy was a sniper or working from intelligence files. He was out in the street shooting women and children, whatever he could get.

The new Gravis poll has Trump at +2. Previous Gravis poll had Clinton at +2. Previous poll before that had Clinton at +4.

The new LA Times poll has Trump at +2. Previous LA Times poll had them at a tie.

Cone flowers are beautiful as Ann's pics attest. But I gave up fighting rabbits/deer. I love Phlox and they have mild fragrance and hardy and deer resistant.

Trump could get quite a number of aspiring singers to give him an adequate Nessun Dorma. Not a Pavarotti-level recording, but good enough for government work.
Its not like Puccini would have had any standing to complain. One of his compositions "Inno a Roma" (theres an interesting recording by Don Placido) was in the fascisti songbook, and he seemed to have had cordial relations with Mussolini.

@Kathryn51,
We like Graze. Across from the Capitol near the statue of Col. Heg.

I took Bay Area Gal to dinner - no kids. It was real nice. Chicken schnitzel and brisket pierogis. Then, we strolled to a nice Berkeley bookstore together. Browsed for a bit. Good vibe. Love the kids, but it's good to get away from them every once in a while.

Watching the A's play Tampa Bay now - chilling. Pleasant summer night, no doubt.

Thank you, Coupe, for the link. Now that that Trump fellow has the GOP nomination and the campaign between him and Mrs Clinton begins in earnest I guess I ought to start paying more attention. Am fairly sure I'm going to have to vote for the Constitution Party's Dr Castle but will put that decision off until November.

Marc, I wish you could see your way to voting R at least this one last time. If she wins, your vote may never matter again.

Meade - the 1st thing we saw at the Capital grounds was the Heg statue! I tried to explain to nephew and wife why it was significant to me but they were not in Madison at the time and don't know the history of the protests. As we entered the Capital bldg., first thing I saw was. . . . .the infamous Veterans Memorial; I remember how you and Professor Ann worked to clean it up (and enforce the cleanup) during the days of protest.

Thanks for recommendation of Graze - my kind of place.

Guildofcannonballs, thanks for your recommendation - Smokysclub would be hubby's choice.

Will report back tomorrow if there is a café post.

I'm not entirely altruistic! We will pester poor Meade a lot. But the offer is here if you ever come south in your road trips instead of west or towards Texas.
